A student is admitted to Wilson High School either as an in boundary student or as an out of boundary student.
In boundary students live within the official boundaries of Wilson as described in the School Attendance Zone document.
Out of boundary students live outside the official boundaries of Wilson and must have special permission to attend. Special permission is obtained by the out of boundary application process or by application to an academy. All out of boundary students are admitted on a year-to-year basis. Academy students' continuation at Wilson within the academy is established by each academy. Students who fail to maintain the academy's minimum requirements will be requested to return to their neighborhood schools. Students on regular out of boundary must maintain a 2.0 and demonstrate acceptable behavior and attend on a consistent and timely basis. Students who fail to maintain the minimum requirements will be returned to their neighborhood schools.
All students must be accompanied by the custodial parent(s) or guardian(s). No student is to be registered without the parental adult present. Once students are admitted, they may register for classes without an adult.
In boundary registration
Parent and student stop at secretary in main office to verify that the address is in boundary.
Secretary gives parent registration folder to complete. Folder includes: Residency Verification forms, registration form, request for transcript/records, PTA directory, etc.
Secretary calls appropriate grade level administrator. If grade level administrator is not available, call any assistant principal. (During the summer, when available, registrations will go directly to the counselors from July 3-July 31.)
Assistant principal interviews and gives general orientation about the school. Also, the assistant verifies the residency materials.
Assistant principal then takes the student to the appropriate counselor for scheduling of classes.
The counselor will prepare the student's schedule and then have the guidance secretary take the student to the Registrar's office. From the registration folder the secretary will give the residency forms to the Residence Verification clerk and the registration folder and schedule to the Registrar.
The Registrar will input the information and schedule and then instruct student as to where to go get his or her ID picture.
Student will get ID picture and will be on his or her way to class.
