Text Box: TIGER RADIO ONLINE

Text Box: After a 25-year hiatus, "TIGER RADIO" has returned to the airwaves at Wilson High School. (Wilson initially started a campus radio station in the mid-1970’s.) On Tuesday, May 20, 2003, at exactly 12:11PM (the start of lunch hour), Tiger Radio was relaunched, broadcasting at the frequency of 88.1 megahertz. Tiger Radio operates within the regulations of the Federal Communications Commission’s “Part 15 Devices”. Tiger Radio has an output power of one-tenth of a watt, so audio reception is on-campus only. Effective homecoming week of 2008, Tiger Radio began webcasting through the school's website. With the evolution of technology, the webcast is Tiger Radio's current home. The purpose of Tiger Radio is to introduce students to the field of mass media arts, particularly radio broadcasting. Wilson students interested in participating on Tiger Radio should be creative, energetic and in good academic standing. For more information see Mr. Shellie Bowers Jr., Director of Tiger Radio. You may also e-mail him at shellie.bowers@dc.gov. To hear Tiger Radio's webcast, click here: www.wilsonhs.org/tigerradio
