Grading Procedures

 

Grading is on a point system. You receive points for all of the work that you complete.  You will receive up to 60% of the points for late work (-if it is accepted.) You will also be graded on Promptness, Preparedness, and Participation. The following is a list of items for which you will receive points.

·        Projects

·        Homework and In-class Assignments

·        Class Participation

 

Grading Scale

  • A         100-90
  • B          89-80
  • C         79-70
  • D         69-60
  • F          59-0


 

 

Supplies

·        Pens (black or dark blue only, not just one, have a few for back-up to be prepared), pencils if you use them to take notes.  I don’t lend pens or pencils.

·        Loose-leaf paper (not the kind that you tear out of a spiral notebook)

·        Separate notebook or section in a notebook- three-ring

·        Textbook

 

·        Please review the Tiger Rules, Student Handbook and your Expectations sheet for the rules and requirements of the classroom and school.

 

·        In The Case Of Chronic Absences Or Tardies

·        Unexcused absences will reduce your grade up to the failure of the course- at the discretion of Mr. Garbus  (Five unexcused absences reduces grade by one letter, three tardies equals one absence.)

 

WORLD HISTORY

SOCIOLOGY

 

Students who arrive after the start of the school year:  within 1-3 weeks in an advisory you make up all assignments, between 4-7 weeks make up all assessments, between 8-10 weeks no grade for the advisory.  Students who arrive late will still take the final exam that will cover the entire course.  Make sure you get all the information for the final.
