Health Philosophy
Health is  dynamic and constantly changing.  Many factors, including heredity, environment, and behavior influence and effect an individual's health.  Health means not only the freedom from illness or injury, the absence of diseases, but a complete interaction of one's physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and social well being.  The primary responsibility for the health of students lies with the parents or the primary support system and the students themselves.  However, the school effectively contributes to the health of every student by giving them strategies to develop the skills, knowledge, and attitudes that will allow them to make positive decisions about their health and choose appropriate behaviors that will continually improve their overall well being.  The Health Curriculum will foster each student's belief in himself/herself,  will provide the student with the  skills to function in a complex,  multicultural, diverse world, and teach the student behavior that will promote sound life choices.  The health curriculum is designed to provide the student with accurate information and the skills necessary to function safely and healthfully in our ever-changing society.  These goals can be achieved by our students, if they are encourage to act responsibly, and to respond in a manner that will contribute positively to the development of their personal, community, and environmental health.
